Union Pacific – Air Compressor Building

The Alton & Southern Railway Company operates as a switching railroad, connecting and directing freight from all over the United States to various strategic destination points. It is owned by Union Pacific. The railroad has an ongoing policy to reduce its environmental impact by utilizing the latest technologies.
A Johnson Controls Facility Explorer Direct Digital Control System utilizing the Niagara AX framework was installed which not only provides environmental control but also is interlocked with the complex’s primary air compressors. The air compressors supply the switching yard which is critical for the staging of railroad cars and therefore the conditioned space must be maintained.
