The East Campus Chilled Water project was an expansion of the chilled water plant which increased the plant capacity to 12,500 tons. This was accomplished utilizing two electric chillers rated at 1500 tons each and two steam turbine chillers rated at 1750 tons each. The control system was an extension of the Johnson Controls Metasys BAS and also integrated BACnet communications with all variable frequency drives and EMON energy meters. Rotork/Crane Centerline valves for flow control and both Siemens Mag-Flo flow meters and ABB steam flow meters contribute to allowing the University’s Energy Management Group a versatile controls configuration for managing the campus chilled water loop.
